1-Hour Consultation

When starting to advocate for your child’s relationship to education you’ll naturally have more questions and concerns than you’ll have answers — not just about your child’s current learning status — but also of the process and options that lay ahead.

Be prepared for the development of an outlined Individual Education

Plan, with a 1-hour consultation prior to beginning the IEP development process.

By the end of our hour together, you’ll have…

A clear understanding of what to expect and how to approach conversations with teachers and school administration.

The best language to use when discussing the process and options on behalf of your child.

IEP Planning

Whether you’ve just been asked to fill out a Parent Consultation form — or an Individual Education Plan has already been created — a lot of questions, concerns, and fears can arise.

Preparing to fill out a Parent Consultation form?

Start here. Our structured, 5-part process, includes…

1.

PREP. You’ll receive an intake form designed to fill me in on your child’s history, your relationship with the education system, and any therapy providers you’re working with.

2.

RAMP UP. On our first call, we’ll review your answers and I’ll field any questions or concerns you have about the Parent Consultation and IEP development process.

You’ll have everything you need to fill out a first draft of your Parent Consultation form.

You’ll be able to confidently advocate for your child.

3.

REVIEW. I’ll review the first draft of your Parent Consultation form, ensuring that you’ve asked for all you can.

You’ll receive modifications and improvements to your requests to ensure that they are heard and received by the school in a productive and effectively partnered way.

You’ll be ready to press “SEND” to deliver your Parent Consultation form to the school admin.

4.

IEP REVIEW. It can take 2-3 weeks to receive a suggested IEP.

When you do, I’ll review the suggested course of support and evaluate its effectiveness before our final call.

Then, we’ll review what your options are. What to agree to and what to negotiate to optimize and finalize your child’s first IEP.

You’ll be prepared to be a confident, supportive, and educated advocate for your child.

5.

FOLLOW UP. Once your IEP is put into action, I’ll follow up with you to see how things are going. I’m here for you and your child — whenever you need me.

Our structured, 4-part process, includes…

1.

PREP. You’ll receive an intake form designed to fill me in on your child’s history, your relationship with the education, and any therapy providers you’re working with.

I’ll also ask you to provide the IEP in that intake form so we can make the most of our time together.

2.

RAMP UP. During our first call, we’ll review your intake form and the IEP you provided. I’ll ask you questions about the actions and experiences you’ve had to date, as well as field any questions or concerns you have about the IEP development process.

I’ll be equipped with the information I need to review and modify your child’s IEP effectively.

3.

IEP REVIEW. After reviewing and adjusting your child’s IEP, I’ll provide my suggestions to you, page by page. We’ll review and discuss the most effective ways to approach the school administration to achieve your support goals for your child’s learning environment.

You’ll know what a realistic outcome could look like and why, from an educational rationale.

You’ll be ready to press “SEND” to deliver your Parent Consultation form to the school admin.
